Officine Panerai has begun as a precision instruments manufacturer established in Florence by Giovanni Panerai in 1860. It still produces thermometers, hygrometers, barometers and chronometers.
In the 1930s, Panerai received a request from the Italian Navy to make a watch for a special diving unit. ”Radiomir” was commercialized in 1938, looking for Rolex to provide waterproof case know-how and movement. It was named from a radiant paint "Radiomir" containing radium of its own development.
Assumed to be worn over the diving suits, the strap is long and the case is 47 mm.
One of the popular models "Luminor” has a crown guard and crown lever to prevent malfunction, it is 200 ATM water resistant.
In 1997 it joined the Richemont group (formerly Vendome group), the watch models before joining were called "pre-vendome" and it is popular in the collector and antique market.
In addition to the model mentioned above, the Submersible which has the reverse rotation prevention bezel is also popular. The average sales price for Panerai is $10,634.
