Omega

In 1848, 23-year-old Louis Brandt set up an assembly workshop of pocket watches in La Chaux-de-Fonds, the beginning of Omega. Now in the Swatch group.
Since 1970s, Omega have used more ETA movements, but the movement of Cal. 8500 series used in Seamaster, Aqua Terra etc is 100% self-developed movement including ground plate and decoration.
Seamaster, one of the popular models, began selling in 1948. The professional model features a manual helium escape valve to prevent breakage of the windshield during saturated helium. It is famous as a diver's watch worn by Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig as James Bond in the movie '007' series.
Another popular model, Speedmaster, was released in 1957. With the adoption of the American Air and Space Station, it is renamed "Speed Master Professional" in 1966. A plastic draft shield is used to prevent the glass from being damaged in the zero gravity state and scattering of debris into the space. The average sales price for Omega is NZ$8,911.
