In 1918 Citizen was founded as a precious metal dealer by Yamazaki Kamekichi, a member of the House of Representatives. In 1924 released the pocket watch "CITIZEN", which became the origin of the "Citizen" brand.
Formerly the world's No. 1 producer of wristwatch movement, it is the largest in the country. Currently it has more than 30% of the world market share.
The Citizen Group's watch products are dominated by quartz watches, but practical products with functions utilizing the latest technologies such as titanium exterior, surface hardening technology (Duratect), solar power (eco-drive), radio correction are developed and released.
